Glass-feathers was puttign up the tables when Olive-toes began to play a very light-hearted song. "This is gonna be awesome!" she chirped.

Lucky and Crystal-heart and Soreawk nodded in agreement. Lucky looked up at the sky and smiled excitedly. "Soon!" she chirped.

When at last the tiem came, Olive-toes played a cheerful song on her violin while Water-wings sang and danced in the air to it. Water-wings' voice sounded beautiful, like a mixture of rushing water, a summer breeze, and silence all at once. Her dancing was beautiful as well, although she stumbled more than she would have liked.

Soreawk blushed at how beautiful Water-wings's singing was. When the performance was over, he hopped up to her, cheeks redder than a cardinal's feathers.

Lucky and Crystal-heart exchanged glances. "Soreawk and Water-wings are getting awfully close..." Lucky whispered. Crystal-heart nodded in agreement.

For a long while, Soreawk just stood their, blushing. Then slowly, and somewhat cautiously, he kissed Water-wings's beak.

Water-wings laughed, but not cruelly. It was a joyous laugh, although a newvous one all the same. "Want to dance?" she asked cautiously.

Water-wings began to dance, all the time singing softly, "This night is sparkling, don't you let it go. I'm wonderstruck, blushin' all the way home. I'll spend forever wonderin' if you knew...I was enchanted to meet you too."

Once the dance was over, Soreawk asked, "Would you like to go to that hill over there, and watch the sun rise?"

((Time for Soreawk to be shocked))

"Soreawk, there's somethign about me you need to know. Before you say anything, just hear me out," Water-wings said, shaking slightly. "I'm a paid assassin. I went out looking for work when I was young, as a way to help feed my family and pay for a tutor for my blind brother. The only employer I could find was a sparrow called Gri who needed his enemies to be killed. At first I thought I would just work for Gri until I could find a better, more respectable job, but I soon realized that I enjoy being an assassin. I kill birds mercilessly, in the most painful ways you can imagine, Soreawk, and I enjoy it. I killed my helpless blindd brother by ripping out his feathers one by one, and cutting off his wings but leavng his eyes. Those I left to remind him that though they remained, he still coud not see. I killed in worse ways than that, too."
Water-wings was shaking so hard now that she almost fell over."I love you, Soreawk, but I can never be with you. W-what if...Gri wantted you dead? I couldn't bear it. If you love me in return, tell me now so that when I leave tomorrow, I will remember that sins cannot change feelings."

Soreawk's eyes widened in shock. But all he actually said, was... "I know Gri..."

A gasp.

Lucky and Crystal-heart, who were nearby--they couldn't help but watch--exchanged horrified glances.

"I knew 'bout his murders. Never knew that he had a puppet behind it all." Soreawk spat in disgust. "Tried to kill me, many times, 'cause I was the only one who new 'bout what he was doing. Almost died once." Soreawk turned around to reveal a long, deep scar on his back; it covered his whole back. "See this? He gave it to me, trying to kill me. Water-wings, please, trust me. That bird is the LAST that you want to be associated with."

Water-wings nodded shakily. "If I quit my job," she started, "He might try to kill /me/! I...don't think I could stand that. I admit, I'm a coward about it but I need to stay alive! I...I don't know what to do!"

Soreawk lifted one of his claws. "Hey, these babies are strong. So are Lucky's, and Crystal-heart's. I bet that the four of us could totally fight off Gri! It's just a little sparrow right?" He wrapped his wing around Water-wings lovingly and protectively. "It just takes a little teamwork, right?" He smiled.
