Major New Project; I Need Help and Opinions Please!

Okay, so I'm writing a story about a girl who is greatly overestimated by everyone except her closest and only friend, her orchestra teacher, Mr. Finch. Then this currently nameless girl is chosen to play a violin (the subject in which she is greatly overestimated) solo in front of the whole school/town (that part needs work) soon after Mr. Finch is killed by a hit-and-run driver. This girl loses all hope for life, and is so angry at the world that she discrases her school/town and breaks a very important rule and plays a different song than the one she is supposed to; one that reminds her not only of Mr. Finch but of the whippoorwills that are an important inspiration in her life.
I need help on -
!) A title. I have three ideas right now -
i. Whippoorwill
ii. Paper Birds
iii. Plastic Violins
@) A name for the girl. I have two ideas, but any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hmmmm. I'll get to names in a bit. I would suggest, though, maybe adding some other characters in the girl's life; whether nice to her or not. Maybe she could have some siblings? For some reason, I like the idea of her being the youngest, and twin sisters, oldest in the family, that aren't all that good to her. But she has a brother who defends her. I guess I just like that idea because so many times it's like the brother(s) are bad, sister(s) are good. So that could be a change. I just think that only two main characters is a bit odd though, and especially depressing when this only friend she has dies. And also, I think you should think of some way to put some action in, to keep the book interesting--maybe their could be a bully character, and they actually physically hurt the main character. (That's realistic anyway, and ANY awareness to bullying is always good.) Maybe the character could have to find to defend herself, and perhaps somehow Mr. Finch could help her with this. Even outside of school, maybe, this bully could torment her. (Kinda lame suggestions I know, sorta brain dead ATM. x3 I could have done this better...)
When it comes to titles, I think you're out of luck when it comes to me. I suck at those XD
Names I'm a bit better on. Both names you have are pretty good; I like the second one especially. One suggestion is Johanna; always liked that name. ^_^

Yeah, there is a bully. her name is Sara Grace and she's your typical popular girl. i chose Plastic Violins for the title.

M'kay, nice title. ^_^ Yeah, that one was my favorite of the ones you listed.
Maybe you should make the bully different. A lot of bullies in media are the snobby popular girl; those aren't the only kind of bullies. Maybe to be a little more original, you could try something else

That is different. *Nods* But, the only thing... being foreign and not having an arm--it's sad but true--would probably make her a target for bullying, not a popular kid.

There's a story behind that....she's a very controlling person and she has all these cronies and everyone else is afraid of her.....*fails at writing with human charries*

Animals really are my best thing; I WOULD like to write about humans sometime, too, though. I have a basic idea (sort of, eheh) but there's just so much more I need to do with it. Fill in a TON of blanks, haha, you know what I mean?

Agreed; I love animal fantasies. ^_^ Say, do you know of any more I could read? One I can suggest to you, if you've never read it--not too popular--is Waggit's Tale, by Peter Howe. Don't expect anything TOO great, and it's mostly episodic, but still a pretty fun, short read.

Waggit's Tale is about dogs; pretty good. There's also a book called Dark Portal, about rats, which I am wanting to get, sometime...

I really shouldn't say. not that I don't trust you, but anyone can see this post. I can tell you their ages though. I played trains with a 2-year old cousin, tea party with a 4-year old cousin, and i just kept an eye on a 10 month cousin. The 10 month old cousin is learning to walk and is SOOOOO cute.
