A New Hope

((This is a human roleplay, but everyone has an animal they can turn into))
Ducky gazed out of the classroom window at the small stray dog that was waiting for her. She wished she could ditch math but school always came first. "I'm sorry, my friend. I must learn how to do long-division first." she asid softly.

Animal - Golden Retriever
Looks (as a human) - Averange size, glasses, short golden hair
Looks (as an animal) - looks like a normal golden retriever, but with barely noticable white markings around her eyes
Personality - Kind, mysterious, can be impatient at times

Name - Emma
Animal - Ermine
Looks (as a human) - Dirty blonde, blue eyes, pale skin. Tall, lanky, and has some freckles.
Looks (as an animal) - Albino. Ermines look like mongooses.
Personality - Nice and outgoing, if a little awkward. Always willing to help a friend in need.

"Psst! Ducky! Ay, Ducky!" Emma poked her friend with the end of her pencil. She sat behind Ducky in Math, and they used this to their advantage.

Emma held out a piece of paper folded neatly three times in her hand, near Ducky's hair. She would know what to do now. They did this every day.

Ducky found the paper and unfolded it. She turned and nodded at Emma.

In neat, elegant hand-writing the note read:

"Meet after school near the tree at five. Something wrong."

Ducky quietly resumed her math work until the bell rang, signaling the end of school. Ducky rushed out, assuming her animal shape as soon as she put her backpack in some bushes. She ran towards the tree that Emma had mentioned adn waited.

Emma was already there in her ermine form. The tree that they always met at was deep in the forest behind the school where no one ever ventured, except for a few foolhardy boys.

"I think there's something wrong with the teachers," breathed Emma.

"What in the name of good grades can you possibly mean, Emma?" Ducky asked, feeling curious. The teachers seemed normal. Boring, strict, always yelling and the boys. What could be wrongs with them?

Emma glanced sideways and back, as if looking for eavesdroppers, before answering.

"Have you noticed how Mrs. Finch's eyes seem to be a little pink as of late? And the way the janitor has been looking a little thin lately..."

Emma hoped Ducky wouldn't bring this down on Emma's tendency to be paranoid.

Ducky shrigged. "Mrs. Finch probably has pinkeye again. And the janitor's probably on a wierd weight loss program or something."

Emma shook her head. "But I don't mean pinkeye--her eye color is actually pink! And...and...the janitor lost thirty pounds in two weeks? He's bone-thin...and all the other teachers don't seem to be their normal selves..."

Hey Falcon (Avian) I'm going on a month-long hiatus, guys. Trying to finish this stupid novel before I turn 13. (Going to spend all day writing and all my free time doing it .)

...and one of her best friends was half cat. Which caused problems, sometimes.
Lexi hadn't meant to get Amber and herself into detention. After all, Mr. Finch was the worst math teacher in the history of Algebra. Of course she would imagine him as a bloodthirsty monster confined to the deep pits of Hades- and that's what she was writing about while she was supposed to be solving boring equations. Amber had liked the story- the only problem was that Mr. Finch read it over her shoulder.
If Lexi was in cat form-
yeah, she was part cat. Deal with it. That stuff happens.
anyhow, if Lexi was in cat form, then she could slink out of the classroom in the time it takes you to say "meow." Then she could go out with her friends and talk about stuff. Like, for example, why the band instructor's eyes had looked rather odd that morning. They almost changed color with the light, first a sea green, then a midnight purple, eventually shifting into a bloodred. She was acting odd, too. Very gruff, not outgoing and talkitive like usual. And Mr. Finch... even for him, it was unusual to give two weeks of after school detention. Very odd.

Lexi stretched in her chair in a cat-like way. Detention... Hades... cruel... she dozed off, only to awake with a start as Miss Whitby, her Englsh teacher, ran into the room. Miss Whit's hair was a tangled mess, and her deep brown eyes were small and panicked.
Mr. Finch looked up from the papers he was grading at his desk.
"Is it ready?" He looked to his co-worker with a slightly bored attitude.
